C-Section & Abdominal
Scar Release
The C- Section & Abdominal Scar Release treatment is specifically designed to help those who have birthed via Cesarean section, experienced a Hysterectomy, Myomectomy (Fibroid removal) and other Laparoscopic surgeries (organ removals, keyhole surgery, cancers).
In a Scar Release bodywork treatment, Prema assesses the body, breath and treats adhesion around the scar, the abdominal wall, the diaphragm, and the ribs. Carefully combining techniques of Myofascial Release, abdominal massage, silicone cupping, Gua Sha, traditional moxibustion and rebozo.
Abdominal scars can contribute to your back pain, continence issues, or general scar discomfort. If your scar feels numb, causes you pain or tingling, or appears “stuck” this treatment is for you.

It's recommended to begin treatment on your scar(s) after 8 weeks post-surgery. Ensuring it has completely healed, with no remaining scabs or signs of infection.
It’s also important that you feel ready for it to be touched. Prema has a nurturing approach that makes you feel comfortable within the treatment.
Scars that are years old can also have benefit from receiving scar release work.

It is common to experience pain, discomfort and pulling sensations around your scar/s, this however does not mean it is normal to have these symptoms. These signs indicate that your scar needs some scar release work.

During a Scar release treatment Prema assesses and treats all associated areas around the scar including the breath expansion/limitation, diaphragm, the whole abdomen, pelvis and the scar. It is not purely just a massage on the scar.
Why is Scar Release so important?
Abdominal Scars can create dysfunction and functional limitations due to their impact on both the tissues and structures in the whole region. Which can cause; impaired muscle function, restricted mobility, sensory changes, digestive issues, restricted diaghram function, cosmetic and body image concerns.
The third stage of Scar healing is the “Remodelling phase” where from 6-8weeks onwards the scar can be massaged. The collagen within the tissues reorganises itself to become stronger, massaging supports collagen synthesis and tissue repair.
Adhesion naturally occurs during wound healing, assisting in securing new tissue, safeguarding the wound, and avoiding further damage. Nonetheless, adhesions can occasionally cause problems by connecting tissues that should move freely, like organs or muscles. This can result in pain or limited movement, which is the concern we seek to address with our treatments.
A strong core is essential for overall health and well-being, as it provides key support and stability for the body during different activities and movements. Scar Release can strengthen and establish reconnection to the deep core.

Potency of the Breath words by Jenny Blyth
“When we hold tension or shock/trauma in different parts of the body, the circulation to that area is reduced. The breath and oxygen does not 'arrive' to those areas. Over time, tension becomes chronic, circulation is stagnant, and function becomes impaired. This can result in pain and inflammation and affect the whole body.
Directing the breath can help:
Release conscious and unconsciour tension
increase circulation
improve function of pelvic structures and systems
reduce pain
enable presence and supreme focus
amplify the effects of bodywork and touch
